The SharePoint Hub Sites have finally been released and are available in general availability! That’s great news. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the latest update from Redmond. This is a brief blog post with a bit of a warning/heads-up about the navigation in a SharePoint Communication Site connected to a Hub. Let’s take a look!
The Hub navigation can be seen just under the SharePoint title. Our customer already had a navigation ready within the SharePoint Communication Site. I was expecting that this navigation was automatically promoted, because I assigned this site as Hub, to the Hub navigation. It’s not! Not a big deal but you have to realize this! Be ready to recreate the navigation for the Hub site.
I would also advice to remove the current Communication Site navigation because it just looks a bit ugly. In my opinion. This is different for Team Sites where the Quick Launch provides an additional navigation but on the left side of the screen. This is a better user experience because it’s not directly under the hub navigation.

August 2, 2018 at 9:16 pmIt seems that the nodes in the Hub Site navigation MUST have an address and cannot be simple headings (without a link). Is everyone else seeing this or shall I keep Binging?
Thanks!
