Real time policy tips in SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business is a new Office 365 feature. You’ll begin seeing this new feature in the following days.
This message is associated with Office 365 Roadmap ID 15062.
How does this affect me?
We’re enhancing the Office 365 data loss prevention (DLP) block access feature with a new option that allows organizations to block the sharing of sensitive documents with external users, while continuing internal work collaboration. When you turn this feature on in your DLP policies, the Sharing dialog will notify users and prevent them from sharing sensitive content with guest or external users. OneDrive and SharePoint will also block external users from accessing documents with sensitive content that matches your DLP policies and rules, even if they were already shared.
We’ll be rolling this out in the next few days, and the roll out will be completed by the end of September.
What do I need to do to prepare for this change?
There is nothing you need to do to prepare for this change. The behavior of your existing DLP policies aren’t affected, but you can easily turn the feature on from the DLP area in the Office 365 Security and Compliance Center. Please click Additional Information to learn more about Policy Tips.
