Apps for Microsoft Teams is a new Office 365 feature. You’ll begin seeing this new feature in the coming days.
This message is associated with Office 365 Roadmap ID 18433.
While our goal is to ensure that we notify you in advance of upcoming changes, we acknowledge that we did not provide timely notice for this change. We’ll continue to look for ways to improve our notifications.
How does this affect me?
An app in Microsoft Teams is a collection of capabilities such as Bots, Tabs or Connectors, rich notifications and compose extensions. A single app in Microsoft Teams can now have any combination of capabilities that enables more rich and powerful experiences for Microsoft Teams users to fully take advantage of third party services.
As part of this new unified App platform release, we’re also introducing new admin controls for you to manage Apps for Microsoft Teams:
– Allow external apps in Microsoft Teams – Allow or block all third-party apps for Teams
– Enable new external apps by default – Set the default behavior for new apps in Teams
– Allow sideloading of external apps – Add an app directly to a Team outside the app catalog
We’ll begin rolling this out in the following days, and the rollout will be completed in early August.
