How to Remove the Link Behind the Title of a SharePoint Web Part

One of my colleagues asked, “How can you disable the link behind the title on a List View Web Part?” To be honest, I had no idea. I never had to look into this question. Thanks to my awesome colleague Masoud Samadi, we found the answer very quickly. Let me show you!

Go to your SharePoint site and click Edit Page:

SharePoint remove the link of the web part title

Open the properties of the Web Part. Browse over to the drop-down menu and choose Edit Web Part:

SharePoint remove the link of the web part title

The Web Part properties appear.

SharePoint remove the link of the web part title

Expand the Advanced section.

SharePoint remove the link of the web part title

Here we can find the answer to the question! Remove the URL in the field Title URL and replace it with: #

Save the Web Part and try to click on the title. Nothing happens. Awesome!

Of course, this doesn’t mean end-users aren’t able to go to the list behind the Web Part. They can still use the Site Contents menu.

You can just leave it blank. That way users don’t think it’s a link at all and think it’s broken.

Dear Jasper, I tried to use the trick on the All promoted links web part. If I replace the url with # or leave it blank I get an error message: TypeError: d is undefined and the link is not removed. Any suggestions? Thanks!
