The previous version of SharePoint Online did not support InfoPath Form Services. This was really unfortunate because we were not able to create digital forms and publish these in SharePoint. The custom solution options were also limited to not existing (no sandbox solutions) so we had to use standard SharePoint lists.
Since the release of Office 365 we can finally use InfoPath in combination with SharePoint Online! This is fantastic news. We are now able to create cool digital forms and implement these in our online SharePoint portal!
In one of my future articles I am going to discuss the integration of InfoPath and SharePoint webservices. This integration should also be possible with SharePoint Online 2010 but I kept having issues and did not get it to work. I talked with the Microsoft Servicedesk about this problem and they told me this has to be done with BCS. I find this strange because I had a short talk with Laura Rogers and she said not having any problems at all! This asks for an investigation 🙂
So are you using SharePoint Online 2010? Use InfoPath! You can support your business processes in your SharePoint Online Portal. This has a lot of advantages. Keep reading my articles 🙂
